Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a medicinal composition that contains a 1-alkyl- azacycloheptan-2-one or a cis-olefin as a transdermal flux enhancing agent and is suitable for topical administration of pharmaceutical agents according to the iontophoresis reduced both in potential and electric density. CONSTITUTION: This medicinal composition contains (A) a safe and effective amount of an ionized or ionizable medicine, (B) an aqueous solvent, and (C) a transdermal flux enhancing amount of a dermal penetration enhancing agent which is selected from the group consisting of 1-(8-16C) alkylazacycloheptan-2- one or a cis-olefin of the formula [R<3> is CH2 OH, CH2 NH2 or COR4 (R4 is OH, a 1-4C alkoxy), (x) and (y) are each an integer from 3 to 13 and x+y is from 10 to 16], typically cis-9-octadecenoic acid. As a medicine of the component A, are cited analgesic agents or anti-inflammatory agents (for example, aspirin, indomethacin), antimicrobial agents (erythromycin), antifungal agents (fluconazol), nifedipine, sertraline, insulin and the like.
