Abstract:
To provide a pharmaceutical composition for treating tumor, using hedgehog/smoothened signals for inhibiting apoptosis of tumor cells.
The pharmaceutical composition contains a sufficient amount of cyclopamine, its pharmaceutically acceptable salt or another pharmaceutically acceptable compound specifically inhibiting hedgehog/smoothened signal transmission. By administeration of a sufficient dose of the pharmaceutical composition by intratumoral injection or the like, apoptosis of the tumor cells is induced, the size of the tumor is decreased or the tumor disappears, and tumors such as basal cell cancer are treated.
