Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an agent which contains, as an active ingredient, a non-N- methyl-D-aspartate(NMDA)-antagonist and is useful for treating an abstinence symptom due to drug abuse and inhibiting drug dependency. CONSTITUTION: This agent contains, as an active ingredient a non-NMDA- antagonist or its salt, which shows an excitatory amino acid action. A combination of the agent and an NMDA-antagonist can be prepared as another agent. The non-NMDA-antagonist is a quisqualate antagonist having a selective or unselective action on an AMPA-receptor. The agent is useful for treating an abstinence symptom caused by taking any of sedative substances, opium agents, hallucinogenic agents, other narcotic agents or alcohol. The daily dose of the agent is 0.001 to 0.0034 mg.
