Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase change ink composition which contains a phase change carrier composition and a wax-soluble near-infrared (NIR) absorbing dye.SOLUTION: A phase change ink composition contains: a phase change carrier composition containing 0.1 to 80 wt.% of a wax (preferably a polyethylene wax having a molecular weight of 200 to 5000 Da) relative to the total weight of the phase change ink composition; and 0.01 to 20 wt.% of a wax-soluble near-infrared (NIR) absorbing squarylium dye having an absorption maximum in the wavelength region of about 700 to about 1400 nm or having an absorption maximum wavelength of about 700 to about 900 nm, about 700 to about 850 nm or about 750 to about 900 nm relative to the total weight of the phase change ink composition.
