PURPOSE: To improve coloring immediately after a skew by inhibiting the phase detection of a color burst at the time of the special reproduction of a PAL system VTR for a cartain period.

CONSTITUTION: At the time of the special reproduction, a signal is inputted from a chroma signal input terminal 1, and the signal inputted from the input terminal 1 is B-Y-axis-inverted and delayed by a chroma signal processing means constituted of a B-Y-axis inversion 4, a 0.5 delay circuit delay 7, a color array correction switch 6, and a skew correction switch 9, and is outputted to a chroma signal output terminal 10. Besides, the burst is extracted from the output signal of the color array correction switch 6, and phase comparison between the burst and a B-Y, an R-Y reference signals from the input terminals 2, 3 is executed by a phase comparator 5, and this compared output signal is made the control signal of the color array correction switch 6 and the skew correction switch 9 so that the B-Y-axis inversion and the delay are selected. Further, a phase detection inhibition circuit 13 is operated by the output signal of a track transition detection circuit 12, and the state of the phase comparator 5 is held for a cartain period.
