Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high speed operation of phase synchronization by calculating data obtained by a data string estimate and sample data so as to obtain a phase difference thereby improving phase difference detection accuracy.
SOLUTION: A phase detection circuit 3 is provided with a generating circuit 10 to estimate a phase synchronization data string from sample data at phase synchronization, a discrimination circuit 11 discriminating data from output data of an equalizer 2 at data tracking operation, selectors 12, 13 to obtain a phase difference from the data string and the sample data, delay circuits 14, 15, multiplier circuits 16, 17 and a subtractor circuit 18. Then the operation of the circuit 3 depends on an RG signal and an MSEL signal. A level of each control signal changes and in the case of RG='L', the circuit 3 estimate the phase synchronization data string from the sampling data and in the case of RG='H' and MSEL='H', phase synchronization operation at the start of data recovery and in the case of RG='H' and MSEL='L', phase tracking is conducted after phase synchronization.
