NEW MATERIAL:A phenol type azophenyl compound shown by the formula I (A is O, S, CH2, etc.; R1WR5 and R1'WR5' are respectively independently H, halogen, hydroxyl group, etc.; R6WR9 and R6'WR9' are respectively independently H, halogen, amino, etc.; with the proviso that at least one selected from R1WR5 and R1'W R5' is hydroxyl, and at least one is an atom or group other than H and hydroxyl).
USE: A photostabilizer for polyurethane. Effective for all the high polymer substances having an urethane bond in molecules. Having high resistance to photo degradation.
PROCESS: A diazonium salt compound shown by the formula II (X is halogen) or its ion dissociated substance is coupled with a phenol compound shown by the formula III, to give a compound shown by the formula I.
