Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a new compound having excellent antitumor activity.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I [X is halogen; R1 is H or alkyl; R2 is hydroxy or halogen; R3 is hydroxy, alkoxy, aralkyloxy or NR4R5 (R4 and R5 are H, alkyl or alkoxycarbonyl)], e.g. 2-(2,6-dichloro-4- benzyloxyphenoxy)-6-chloro-1,4-dihydroxybenzene. The compound of formula I can be produced e.g. by reacting a compound of formula II (e.g. 2,6- dihydroxy-1,4-dimethoxybenzene) with a compound of formula III (e.g. 4- bromo-2,6-dichloroanisole) in a solvent (e.g dimethyl sulfoxide) in the presence of sodium hydride, tetra-n-butylammonium sulfate and copper bromide.
