PURPOSE: To provide a new phenyl-substituted iminosulfonylurea useful as a herbicide safely applicable to important crops and exhibiting remarkable effect on various weeds at a low rate of application.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I [Q is group of formula II to formula IV (S, O and N on the C atom bonded with imino group of Q may be substituted with arbitrary substituent other than H and the phenyl group may be substituted with arbitrary substituent); X is O or S; L is H, alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl; G is group of formula V (A is CH or N; B and D are alkyl, alkoxy, mono- di- or polyhalogenoalkyl, mono-, di- or polyhalogenoalkoxy, halogen or mono-or dialkylamino)] or its salt, e.g. 1-[N-((methylthio-phenyl)methylene) aminosulfonyl)-3-(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)urea. The compound of formula I wherein X is O can be produced by reacting an amine of formula VI with chlorosulfonyl isocyanate and reacting the product with an imine of the formula Q-H.
