EXAMPLE: Methyl m-methylphenylglyoxylate.
USE: Fungicide.
PROCESS: A compound of formula VIII corresponding to formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula V with Mg and reacting the obtained Grignard compound with dimethyl oxalate or others to obtain a keto ester of formula VII.
