Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formulaI(X and Y are H, lower alkyl, halogen, CF3, NO2 or CN).
EXAMPLE: 1-(4-Chlorophenyl)-3-methyl-3-nitropropyl acetate.
USE: An agricultural and horticultural germicide, having particularly improved germicidal effect on pathogenic germs of plants belonging to the class Fungi Imperfecti, and further on Piricularia oryzae, Fusarium oxysporum, Ascochyta pisi, etc.
PROCESS: Acetic acid or a reactive derivative thereof is reacted with a phenylnitropropyl alcohol derivative of formula II in the presence or absence of a solvent, if necessary a reaction assistant, e.g. phosphorus pentachloride in the case of acetic acid and a base in the case of acetyl chloride, to give the compound of formulaI.
