To provide a novel compound that has cholesterol acyl-transferase inhibitory action and is useful as a hypocholesterolemic agent or a preventive or therapeutic agent for arteriosclerosis.
This novel compound is represented by formula I (R1 and R2 are each H, phenyl, an aralkyl), typically 1-(4-benzyloxy-3-methoxy-phenyl)7- phenylhepto-1-ene-3-one. The compound of formula I is prepared by reaction of a benzaldehyde as 4-benzyloxy-3-methoxy-benzaldehyde with a phenylhexanone as 1-phenyl-5-hexanone in the presence of a base as potassium hydroxide. The formula of formula II [R3 is H, phenyl; R4 is H, a halogen; R5 and R6 are H, (substituted) phenyl] is prepared by the condensation reaction between a cinnamic acid with an amine. These compounds are useful as a medicine for hyperlipemia.
