PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound useful as an insecticide presenting high efficacy on a wide range of agricultural/horticultural pests, esp. Lepidoptera such as Chilo suppressalis and Diamond-back moth, Coleoptera such as Echinocnemus squameus and Hemiptera such as Nephotettix cincticeps.
CONSTITUTION: The objective phenyltriazole derivative is expressed by formula (R1 and R2 each is H, an alkyl, an alkoxycarbonyl, an acyl, or being combined with the adjacent nitrogen atom into an alkoxymethyleneamino or a heterocycle), e.g. 5-amino-1-(2-chloro-6-fluoro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-3- trifluoromethyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by reaction between a hydrazonoyl halide of formula II (X is a halogen) and a cyanamide of formula III (R3 and R4 each is H or an alkyl) in the presence of a base.
