Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phone book exchange system capable of effectively using once registered phone book.
SOLUTION: In the phone book exchange system, a facsimile machine is connected to one or more servers via a communication network. The server has a phone book which can be referenced from the facsimile machine. When the server receives a transmission request for this phone book from the facsimile machine, it transmits this phone book to the facsimile machine of a request source. The facsimile machine transmits the transmission request for the phone book held in the server, so that the phone books can be exchanged between the facsimile machine and the server, and the facsimile machine can select the party at the other end from within the phone book transmitted from the server as a reply and the phone book held in itself.
