Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A 2-[dialkyl(2-hydroxyalkyl)ammonio]ethyl phosphate expressed by formula I (R' is 10-16C alkyl; R'' and R''' are 1-6C alkyl). EXAMPLE:2-[Dimethyl(2-hydroxydodecyl)ammonio]ethyl phosphate. USE:A surfactant having a wide range of antimicrobial spectrum and applicable to emulsifying agents, solubilizing agents, dispersants, detergent bases, thickening agents, etc., for pharmaceutical bases, cosmetics, and paints, inks, etc. PREPARATION:A dialkyl(2-hydroxyalkyl) (2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium halide expressed by formula II (X is halogen) as a raw material is dissolved in benzene and phosphorus oxychloride in a molar amount of 1-4times based on the above- mentioned raw material is added thereto at ambient temperature while stirring. The solvent is then distilled away from the reaction solution and the resultant residue is stirred using water as a solvent. pH is then adjusted to 6 with a base. Water is subsequently removed to carry out desalting.
