Abstract:
Products of the reaction of phosphonoalkanecarboxylic acids of the general formulae (I) in which R<1> is COOH or PO3H2 and R<2> is CH2COOH or PO3H2 with the proviso that R<1> and R<2> are different, or (II) in which m is 0 or 1 and n is 1 or 2, with alcohols of the general formula (III) R<3>-OH (III) in which R<3> is a straight-chain or branched alkyl radical having 4 to 14 carbon atoms, in a molar ratio of 1 : 1 to 1 : (p - 0.5), p being the valency of the phosphonoalkanecarboxylic acids of the general formulae (I) or (II), or mixtures of such reaction products are used for the extraction of metal ions from acidic aqueous solutions by means of organic solvents.
