PURPOSE: To obtain a phosphor having a high stable luminance and a stable luminescent color by baking raw material for phosphor filled in a phosphor baking crucible having a lid put on it with a ceramic paper lying therebetween.
CONSTITUTION: In the phosphor baking method in which raw material for phosphor is filled into a phosphor baking crucible having a lid put on it and is baked, a ceramic paper is placed between the crucible and the lid. The chemical composition of the ceramic paper to be used comprises about 50% alumina and 50% silicon dioxide and a commercial product suitable as the ceramic paper is available. When baking is performed with a ceramic paper put between a phosphor baking crucible and the lid, a proper degree of openings can be provided for the airtight crucible to facilitate the removal of a flux, etc., by evaporation so that a phosphor having a stable luminescent color free from change can be obtained.
