Abstract:

To provide an orange red phosphor with improved luminous intensity, and a white LED.

The orange red phosphor is represented by the formula: Ca1-xAl1+nSi1-nN3-nOn:Eux, Laxy (wherein x represents the amount of europium (Eu) serving as an activator and satisfies the relation: 0.005x0.05; y represents the molar ratio of lanthanum (La) to europium (Eu) and satisfies the relation: 0.05y0.8; and n represents the amount of nitrogen atoms (N) replaced by oxygen atoms (O) and satisfies the relation: 0n0.5). The phosphor shows high luminous intensity and can be manufactured with good manufacturability.
