Abstract:

To obtain a new phosphorus-containing ethylenic unsaturated monomer not bled out and capable of imparting flame retardancy, impact resistance and heat resistance to resins.

The compound of formula I or II [R1, R2 are each H, methyl; R3 is a 1-18C alkyl, benzyl, phenyl; R4 is H, a 1-4C alkyl; (m) is 2-4]. For example, 3-[hydroxy(phenyl)phosphinyl]propionic acid (2-methacryloyloxyethyl) ester. The compound of formula I or II is obtained, e.g., by subjecting 3-[hydroxy(phenyl)phosphinyl]propionic acid methyl ester and hydroxyethyl methacrylate to a transesterification reaction at 100-105°C under a vacuum of 20mmHg, while removing off methanol outside the system.
