Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide amphiphilic biomimetic phosphorylcholine-containing silicone compounds for use in both topical and internal applications as active functional components in medical device ophthalmic lenses, ophthalmic lens care solutions, liquid bandages, wound dressings, and lubricious and anti-thrombogenic coatings.SOLUTION: The invention provides polymerizable or non-polymerizable silicone compounds which comprise a silicone moiety having a weight average molecular weight of 1000 to 1500000 Daltons and include zwitterionic phosphorylcholine groups such as compounds represented by formula (I). The invention also provides polymers derived from the compounds, and medical devices using the polymers.SELECTED DRAWING: None
