To provide a photo-electric converting material which exerts a high efficiency and has excellent durability.
A photo-electric converting material includes a semiconductor and a photo-sensitivity intensifying pigment to be attached to the semiconductor, wherein the pigment is a phthalocyanine derivative, dioxadine derivative, or indigo derivative having at least one interlocking radical and at least one hydrophobic radical selected from a group consisting of one-valent substitutional and non-substitutional aliphatic series hydrocarbon radical and one-valent substitutional and non-substitutional aliphatic cyclic hydrocarbon radical. The hydrophobic radical should preferably be an alkyl radical having 3-12 carbon atoms. Interlocking radical is carboxyl radical, sulfonic radical, sulfono radical, etc. In manufacturing the photo-electric converting material, the pigment is dissovled in a hydrophobic and/or non-proton solvent. The semiconductor is immersed in a pigment solvent for attaching the pigment to the semiconductor.
