Title:
PHOTO SWITCH
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5526558
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable condensing optical fibers to be changed over to themselves with small power consumption by using the electrode driving mechanism which drives electrodes with small voltage.

CONSTITUTION: Plural optical fibers 21 are buried in a movable plate 20 such as of resin plate or the like which is formed oscillatably with one side as a fulcrum. Electrodes 22, 24, dielectrics 23, 25 are formed respectively over the entire region of the surface and back of the plate 20. On the other hand, the two stationary plates 26, 27 sandwiching the plate 20 has slopes respectively provided with electrodes 28, 29. When the plate 20 turns, the plate 20 and plates 26, 27 make contact with the entire surface respectively. At this time, the optical fibers 21 make contact to the optical fibers 30, 31 which are respectively opposedly disposed at their end faces. When voltage is applied between the electrodes 22, 28 or electrodes 24, 29 of the switch mechanism formed in this way, electrostatic attraction is generated and change-over operation may be accomplished by large electrostatic capacity and low voltage, hence small power consumption.
