To provide a photocatalyst body which decomposes polluted substances in a polluted water with a high efficiency and carries out solid-liquid separation easily, and also to provide water purification equipment using the same.
The photocatalyst material 1 comprises a photocatalyst particle 2 which enters an excited state by light and promotes chemical reaction by supplying energy to other particles without changing itself, and a magnetic material 3 to be magnetized in a magnetic field. The photocatalyst body 1 is formed into a superfine grain with a diameter of approximately several nms to several hundred nms, a so-called 0-dimensional nanomaterial, and its surface area per a unit area is enlarged. When these photocatalyst bodys 1 are fed into the polluted water and then irradiated with light, the photocatalyst particle 2 absorbs the light and enters an excited state and organic polluted substances or fats in the polluted water are decomposed at its surface. The photocatalyst body 1 remaining in purified water in which the polluted water is purified has the magnetic material 3, thus the magnetic material 3 is easily separated from the purified water by passing through a magnetic filter to form a magnetic field.
