Abstract:

To provide a photocatalyst-carrying fibrous activated charcoal also having adsorption ability and decomposition ability of an adsorbed substance, in which the photocatalyst is not easily peeled off from the fibrous activated charcoal, i.e., a carrier even under environment of a large amount of moisture content.

The photocatalyst-carrying fibrous activated charcoal is the fibrous activated charcoal carried with rutile type titanium oxide and is characterized in that the rutile type titanium oxide is not peeled off and dropped off even after the fibrous activated charcoal is immersed in water of 25°C for one hour. In the production method for the photocatalyst-carrying fibrous activated charcoal, the fibrous activated charcoal is immersed in water in which anatase type titanium oxide and amorphous type peroxotitanic acid are mixed and the anatase type titanium oxide and the amorphous type peroxotitanic acid are imparted to the fibrous activated charcoal and dried, thereafter, it is calcined at the temperature from 800°C to 1,500°C under vacuum and the anatase type titanium oxide is converted to the rutile type titanium oxide.
