NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R1 is H, halogen, alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, etc.; R2 and R3 are H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, etc.; X is O or N-R6 (R6 is H, alkyl, aryl, etc.); the group of formula II is adamantylidene, etc.].
EXAMPLE: (E)-α-5-methyl-2-p-dimethylaminostyryl-4-oxazolylethylidene(adamantylidene)succinic acid anhydride.
USE: An optical recording and optical memory material, a copying material, a photo-sensitizer for printing, an optical filter and a display material.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced e.g. by reacting hydroxyiminoacetylacetone of formula III with p-dimethylamino-cinnamaldehyde, reacting the resultant 4-acetyl-oxazole derivative of formula TV with adamantylidenesuccinic acid diethyl ester of formula V, hydrolyzing the ester group and dehydrating with acetic anhydride.
