Abstract:
A monomode optical transmission fibre (1) is described an end portion (5) of which has a tapered core (2) and cladding (3), which end portion is provided with a lens (7) having a spherical outer surface (8). A transparent layer of a cured synthetic material (9) whose outer profile (10) is adapted to the specific circumstances under which the transmission fibre is to be used is provided on the lens substrate (7) by means of a replica technique.
