To provide an optical conversion device capable of reducing an influence of 1/f noise on an output signal, and to provide an image pickup system.
The optical conversion device related to a first aspect of this invention comprises an optical conversion unit; a first semiconductor region with a first conductive type impurity doped in a first concentration; a charge-transferring unit arranged between the photoelectric conversion unit and the first semiconductor region, and transferring a first conductive type charge generated by the photoelectric conversion unit to the first semiconductor region; and a second semiconductor region arranged on the periphery of the first semiconductor region and formed by the doping of the first conductive type impurity in a second concentration lower than the first concentration. The second semiconductor region is depleted at least when an amplifier amplifies a voltage.
