To provide a photoelectric conversion element having high photoelectric conversion efficiency.
A photoelectric conversion element includes: a first electrode; a second electrode; and an active layer disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The active layer contains an electron-donative polymer compound and an electron-accepting polymer compound. At least one of the electron-donative polymer compound and the electron-accepting polymer compound is a polymer compound comprised only of arylene group and one or more kinds of repetitive units selected from the group consisting of divalent heterocyclic groups. The electron-donative polymer compound has a weight-average molecular weight of 70000 or more in terms of polystyrene. The electron-accepting polymer compound has a weight-average molecular weight of 70000 or more in terms of polystyrene.
