To provide a photoelectric transducer colorant which can be fixed on a surface of particulates at a high fixation rate and furthermore which gives superior photoelectric transduction efficiency, even if inexpensive semiconductor particulates with no concern of resource exhaustion is used for the photoelectric transducer such as one for a photoelectric chemical battery.
This is a colorant for the photoelectric transducer expressed by a formula (I). In the formula, X expresses O, S, or NH or the like. R1 to R8 represent respectively and independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, a trifluoromethyl group, a cyano group, an alkenyl group, a nitro group, -OH, -SH, -NH2, -S(=O)OH, -S(=O)2OH, -C(=O)OH, -C(=O)NH2, -NHC(=O)OH, -PO(OH)2, -B(OH)2, or a heterocyclic residue or the like of 3 to 30 membered ring.
