PURPOSE: To provide a camera and a photographic film cartridge which can be accurately positioned in the cartridge loading chamber of the camera.

CONSTITUTION: The end face of a spool 4 is exposed to one end face of the cartridge main body 3 and the leading edge of a photographic film 5 is fed by rotating the spool 4. 1st and 2nd engaging holes 20 and 21 are formed on the end face of the cartridge main body 3, and positioning pins on the camera side are fitted in the holes 20 and 21 so as to position the cartridge main body 3 in a rotating direction. Projection for positioning which is provided at the back of the cartridge loading chamber abut on the peripheries of the holes 20 and 21 and a receiving surface 28, so that the cartridge main body 3 is positioned in an axial direction. The hole 21 is a through hole and a locking plate 9 is provided at the back of the hole 21. The positioning pin on the camera side gets into the hole 21 to deform the plate 9, so that the locking of the rotation of the spool 4 is released.
