To provide a camera which enables a film cartridge to be unloaded and replaced without exposing its internal film to undesired light.

The camera is equipped with a camera main body 1 having a lens and a shutter operation control part and the film cart ridge 2 which has an unexposed film winding area, an exposed film winding area and a bridge area between those areas and can be unloaded from the camera main body. Light from a lens can reach the film in the bridge area through an opening of the cartridge. A door 13 closes the opening of the cartridge and can be opened when the cartridge is set in or fitted to the camera main body. A member of the camera main body and a member of the cartridge cooperate with each other to open and close the door and when the cartridge completely is engaged with the camera main body, the door can be opened. In the camera main body, the film cartridge is immovably connected.
