To produce a chemically stable photographic image having mechanical strength, which does not suffer degradation due to degeneration of silver fine particles and a gelatin film constituting a photographic image.

An image comprising a stable noble metal and free of gelatin is formed. In order to form such an image, noble metal fine particles are deposited in a gelatin film only in an exposed image portion to produce an image comprising the noble metal fine particles, and then the image is fired, whereby the gelatin is removed by burning and the objective photographic image comprising a noble metal film fixed on a base by agglomeration of the noble metal fine particles is formed.
