PURPOSE: To reduce an intermediate layer interimage effect by incorporating a coupler for releasing a development inhibitor component during photographic processing.
CONSTITUTION: The photographic material comprises at least 2 photographic silver halide emulsion layers on a support and contains at least one kind of coupler to be allowed to release the development inhibitor by exposure and processing, and the coupler is represented by formula I in which COUP is a coupler component for releasing (TIME)n-INH-Q in development; TIME is a timing group; INH-Q composes the development inhibitor component in both; INH is a mercaptothiadiazole initiator component; and Q is 1-4 thioether components and each ion directly combines with a saturated carbon atom but does not directly combine with the INH component; and (n) is 0, 1, or 2.
