Abstract:

To improve operation stability with reduced power consumption in insertion/extraction driving, rotational driving, and zoom driving of a rotary optical element and to accurately control the rotational driving of the rotary optical element by preventing erroneous detection of an evaluation value of a subject image.

A control circuit (a driving control unit) 70 inhibits a polarizing filter driving mechanism from performing insertion/extraction driving and rotational driving of a polarizing filter 43 while a zoom driving mechanism performs zoom driving. The control circuit 70 inhibits the zoom driving mechanism from performing the zoom driving while the polarizing filter driving mechanism performs the insertion/extraction driving and the rotational driving of the polarizing filter 43.
