To provide a photographing apparatus for controlling a fan without having no adverse effect on a photographed image to efficiently reduce a temperature in the apparatus, and to provide the photographing apparatus capable of efficiently consuming the stored power of a battery in a photographing processing operation requiring fan driving.

In a photographing standby state (S1), the fan is driven in any one of a state that the temperature in the inside of a main body is 100°C or more or a state that the apparatus is in a high-sensitivity photographing mode. Also, in a photographing operation (S2), the rotational speed of the fan is adjusted to drive and rotate the fan on the basis of a shutter speed when the temperature in the inside of the main body is 100°C or more, and the fan is urgently stopped when in the high sensitivity photographing mode at the temperature of 100°C in the inside of the main body. Also, in a reproducing and confirming state of a photographed image (S3) and in recording the photographed image (S4), the fan is driven when the temperature of the inside of the main body is 50°C or more. Also, when the temperature in the inside of the main body is below 50°C and the residual capacity of the battery is small, the fan is always stopped.
