In a digital camera 100 equipped with only one display means, a control part 6 detects the residual capacity of the battery every prescribed time and turns off the color liquid crystal display part 4 after displaying a message to inform that the residual capacity of the battery is little and a message to inform that the display of a display means is finished when the detected residual capacity of the battery is equal to or under a 1st set value set in a memory 5. The control part 6 inhibits photographing operation and controls a power source part 11 to supply power to the display part 4 so as to forcibly turn on the display part 4 when the residual capacity of the battery is equal to or under a 2nd set value. Then, it allows the display part 4 to display warning information to inform that the residual capacity of the battery is naught, and turns off the display part 4.
