To obtain a photographing unit excellent in handleability and hardly causing shake both in the case of photographing in a long sideways photographing frame and that in a long lengthwise photographing frame by previously loading unexposed disk type photographic film in a photographing feasible state and making the front shape of a housing substantially square.

The housing 10 is formed so that the shape of its front 11 may be substantially square, and the unexposed disk type photographic film 20 is previously loaded in the photographing feasible state inside the housing 10. The film 20 is pivotally fixed nearly in the center part of the housing 10 so that it can be rotated through a core or a circular hole arranged in the center part. The front 11 of the housing 10 is divided into four square areas (area A to area D). A stroboscope 33 is arranged in the center of the front 11, a finder 31 is arranged in the area A, a photographing lens 30 is arranged to extend over the areas A and B, a shutter button 32 is arranged in the area C and a grip part 34 is arranged at least in either the area B or D.
