The photoluminescence liquid crystal display may include a light source 10 emitting polarized light, a light control unit 50 including a liquid crystal layer 53 having a plurality of pixel regions and modulating a polarization direction of the polarized light of light emitted from the light source 10 individually with respect to each of the pixel regions, a polarizer 60 transmitting the modulated light only when the polarized light has a predetermined polarization direction, and a photoluminescence layer 70 excited by the light transmitted through the polarizer 60 and emitting excitation light by photoluminescence. Accordingly, an additional polarizer may not be on a rear surface of the light control unit 50, so that photoluminescence liquid crystal display may have a simpler structure and increased light use efficiency.
