A photometric device comprises: a calculation unit 532 for calculating a next storage time so as to make a photometric output from an accumulation type light receiving element 13 approximate to a predetermined target value; a determination unit 533 for determining whether or not the photometric output is effective based on comparison between a value of the photometric output and a first predetermined value, and between the value of the photometric output and a second predetermined value greater than the first predetermined value; a storage control unit 531 for, when negative determination is made by the determination unit 533, causing the receiving element 13 to perform next storage for the storage time calculated by the calculation unit 532 without performing photometry calculation using the photometric output; and control means 53 for, in a low luminance mode, controlling the determination unit 533 so that the first predetermined value is changed to be smaller than a value in any mode other than the low luminance mode.
