The photometric device includes a storage type photometric sensor 17, a first control means 21 performing storage control of the photometric sensor 17 based on an average output value thereof, a second control means 21 performing storage control of the photometric sensor 17 based on the maximum value of output therefrom, and a storage control means 21 for controlling the first control means 21 and second control means 21, respectively, so that the second control means 21 performs storage control during next time storage control when the maximum value of output from the photometric sensor 17 subjected to storage control by the first control means 21 exceeds the saturation output level of the photometric sensor 17, otherwise the first control means 21 performs storage control during the next time storage control.
