To shorten the time required for photometry by constituting the system so that a line used for the photometry may perform horizontal transfer by performing vertical transfer by one line or perform the horizontal transfer by adding two or more lines in the case of performing the vertical transfer.
Figure (c) shows the transfer example of a plurality of lines not used for the photometry and a plurality of lines used for the photometry. Namely, in the plurality of lines used for the photometry, a vertical transfer pulse is applied by one and then a horizontal transfer pulse is applied to transfer in a horizontal direction, then the transfer of charge of one line is finished. Such operation is repeated for all of the plurality of lines not used for the photometry. Next, in the plurality of lines used for the photometry, the vertical transfer pulse is applied by one and the transfer of the charge of one line is finished. The operation is repeated for all of the plurality of lines used for the photometry. In such a case, the line used for the photometry is constituted to perform the horizontal transfer by adding two or more lines in the case of the vertical transfer.
