To obtain a photopolymerizable composition excellent in sensitivity and shelf stability and a photosensitive and heat sensitive recording material capable of stably forming a high sensitivity and high contrast image in a perfectly dry processing system using infrared, blue to red laser and excellent in shelf stability.
The photopolymerizable composition contains a compound having a polymerizable group and microcapsules housing a photopolymerization initiator. When an image is recorded using the composition, heating is carried out before and after exposure. The photosensitive and heat sensitive recording material has a photosensitive and heat sensitive recording layer containing microcapsules housing a coloring component A and a photopolymerizable composition containing at least a compound B having a polymerizable group and a site which colors together with the coloring component A in the same molecule and microcapsules housing a photopolymerization initiator on the substrate. An image is recorded using the material through an exposure step in which a latent image is formed, a coloring step in which the coloring component is allowed to color by heating and a fixing step in which the formed image is fixed by irradiation with light and the photopolymerization initiator is decolored.
