To provide a method for easily and inexpensively manufacturing a color filter with high productivity, the color filter for a transflective liquid crystal display capable of performing transmissive color display and reflective color display with superior lightness and color saturation.
A photosensitive color composition is disclosed, containing an organic pigment having an average primary particle diameter of 5 to 60 nm; a photopolymerization initiator, having a wavelength m where the molar extinction coefficient reaches the maximum in a range of 300 to 370 nm and a molar extinction coefficient m range of 8,500 to 80,000 L/mol cm at a wavelength m; an ethylenically unsaturated monomer; a binder resin; and a solvent. The method for manufacturing a color filter includes steps of forming a coating film of the photosensitive color composition on a transparent substrate; and forming a color layer for a light-transmitting region and a color layer for a light-reflecting region, by having the coating film irradiated with UV rays via a photomask and developing, the photomask having a full light-shielding region, a translucent light-shielding region having a transmittance range of 20 to 50% at 365 nm wavelength, corresponding to the formation of a color layer in the light-reflecting region, and a full transmission region corresponding to the formation of a color layer in the light-transmitting region.
