To prevent a matting agent added to the upper layer of the undercoat of a photothermographic image forming material, a protective layer for a photosensitive layer, a backing layer or a protective layer for the backing layer from peeling and falling in a production process and to provide a photothermographic image forming material which causes no image defects after development, diminishes unevenness in interference and haze due to irregular reflection in laser exposure and ensures good image quality.
In the photothermographic image forming material having a photosensitive layer containing photosensitive silver halide grains, an organic silver salt, a reducing agent and a binder and a protective layer adjacent to the photosensitive layer on one side of the base and a backing layer on the other side, a wax obtained by esterifying a fluorinated higher fatty acid with a higher alcohol is contained in the outermost layer of at least one of the photosensitive layer and the backing layer.
