Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photovoltaic element in which charge separation is easily caused and charge recombination is hardly caused.SOLUTION: A photovoltaic element contains a compound having a charge separation action. The compound includes an electron-donating part and an electron-accepting part in a molecule, the electron-accepting part accepting or generating excitons. The energy level of the HOMO (highest occupied molecular orbital) of the electron-accepting part is lower than that of the HOMO of the electron-donating part. The energy level of the LUMO (lowest unoccupied molecular orbital) of the electron-accepting part is higher than that of the HOMO of the electron-donating part. The distance between the gravity center of the HOMO of the electron-accepting part and that of the HOMO of the electron-donating part is shorter than the distance between the gravity center of the LUMO of the electron-accepting part and that of the HOMO of the electron-donating part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
