This physical quantity detector includes a gyro sensor element 100, an oscillation operation determination section for generating an oscillation operation determination signal showing whether the gyro sensor element 100 operates at a predetermined oscillation frequency, an abnormality flag generation section for generating an abnormality flag signal showing whether there is an abnormality in at least a part of monitoring object signals 50-3 to 50-6, and an abnormality determination output section for generating and outputting an abnormality determination signal showing whether there is an abnormality in operation of an angular velocity detector 1. When the oscillation operation determination signal is abnormal, the abnormality determination output section outputs the abnormality determination signal showing whether there is an abnormality in operation of the angular velocity detector 1. When the oscillation operation determination signal is normal, after abnormality continues for a first time or longer after the abnormality flag signal changes from the normality to the abnormality, the abnormality determination output section changes the abnormality determination signal from the normality to the abnormality and outputs it.
