Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a database division managing method and a parallel database system which can obtain expected parallelism and actualize fast querying. SOLUTION: The parallel database system 1 is constituted by connecting FES 75, BES 73, IOS 70, and a disk 80. The number of processors of FES 75, BES 73, and IOS 70, and the number of disks of the disk 80 and its division number are determined corresponding to a load pattern. For example, FES:BES: IOS:disk=1:4:1:8. Further, BES is increased from one up to four according to load variation to obtain scalable system constitution. When BES is increased, data are not moved and only management information is moved. Consequently, a high-speed querying processing which brings out expected parallelism is actualized. The scalability of the system is realized.
