Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a physiologically active substance having an inihibitory activity against protocollagen-proline hydroxylase, by cultivating a specific microorganism belonging to the genus Streptomyces.
CONSTITUTION: Streptomyces sp. No.23924 strain (FERM BP-338) is newly separated from soil. The resultant microorganism is cultivated in an ordinary culture medium under aerobic conditions to produce a novel physiologically active substance P-23924 expressed by formula I (R1 is hydrogen, methyl or hydroxymethyl; R2 is hydrogen or methoxyl; R3 is hydroxy or methoxyl; R4 is hydrogen or a group expressed by formula II). The resultant physiologically active substance has an inhibitory activity against protocollagen-proline hydroxylase.
