PURPOSE: To obtain the titled automated character-picking device which comprises a character-selecting unit coding and delivering necessary input characters, an operational processing unit displaying the characters at prescribed positions on a CRT screen and delivering position codes, and a servo unit controlling the characters to be positioned at a photographing lens.

CONSTITUTION: The titled device comprises the following five elements: a kanji tablet member 1, a microcomputer 2, a servo-controller 3, a plate-positioning device member 4 and a character display 5. Operations are performed as follows. First necessary kanjis and other characters are picked out from the kanji tablet member 1 according to a manuscript. Then, the characters picked out are displayed in the character display 5 in the sequence wherein they are picked out and are collated with the manuscript. Simultaneously when an initial character is made to flicker in the character display 5, a character plate is moved automatically so as to position the characters just under a lens. After collation is made with the manuscript, the plate 6 is positioned automatically and thereby the operations are completed.
