This picking device for a rapier loom comprises a rapier band, a rapier head disposed on the tip of the rapier band and at least one band guide having a guide with the rapier band abutted thereon, wherein the rapier band or rapier head is provided at such a position that a portion projected downward below the underside of rapier head lies before the vicinity of the tip of the face with the rapier band abutted on the band guide; the projected portion has the function to be engaged with a warp put on the guide and release the warp thus engaged after it is passed through the band guide, thereby the warp is pushed down off the guide.
